We are officially 48 hours from the conclusion of this campaign! We've been humming along for this entire month, and I'm guessing these final 2 days will be no less exciting! Over the past day, we've exceeded ONE THOUSAND BACKERS and are cruising up on our next Stretch Goal. Will we hit it? Let's find out together!

I'll talk more about Stretch Goals tomorrow, when we review our accomplishments for this campaign.

We're in the final week (days!) countdown for World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters on Kickstarter - it ends on Satuday, October 31st at 2:00 PM EDT - there's still time to recruit additional backers, but we're definitely getting closer to the finish line. With that in mind, I wanted to touch on some of the basics over the next 4 days to make sure that everyone has all of the information they need to support the project in the way that works best for them.

Whether you're just starting to investigate your first haunted house or you've got a van full of equipment parked next to a graveyard, these are good items to review to make sure that we all end up where we want to be.

(An aside, if you're a new backer, make sure you check out the Final Week resource post. It has links to the manuscript previews, spooky fiction, and interviews & podcast discussions!)

Today, I am going to talk about ADD ON reward options. On Saturday, before the campaign finishes I will post an update with a Final Checklist & What Comes Next.

First Step: Reward Tier

The absolute best way to ensure that you're getting all of the available rewards you want from this kickstarter is to ensure you've selected the appropriate Backer Reward Tier, as detailed in our Reward Tier Update. Selecting the right Reward Tier covers about 95% of the options that will matter to you. If you want the PDF only, make sure you've selected the correct reward. If you want the hardcover version, double-check your reward tier to ensure it's featured. If your going digital now but want the option of getting a discounted Print-on-Demand copy later, make sure you've got a reward tier that includes that option.

Once you've completed that important step, you're going to want to look at the Add On rewards for any reward "bits" that don't automatically fall into your reward tier. That takes us to the Add On step.

Step Two: Add-Ons.

If you've selected one of the "core" Reward Tiers, you've likely already included most of the rewards you want. In addition to the rewards offered as part of the Reward Tier configurations, there are a few other possible rewards you may wish to add. All Add-On rewards will be described below.

Each Add On includes an extra amount to add on to your total pledge amount. Remember that your total pledge amount includes all shipping charges and not just your reward tier level.

I'll use myself as an example here. Whenever a new campaign launches, I usually jump on and back as quickly as possible - this allows me to make comments as a backer, and, you know, I love all this stuff. I typically click the PDF tier because it's near the top and I know for sure I want the PDF reward.

Unlike many of you, I'm yet to celebrate my first anniversary for the World of Darkness 20th Anniversary line. That is to say, I missed the boat for the past 20+ years and I'm just dipping my toe in now. I recently got the Mage: The Ascension 20th Anniversary rulebook PDF, and I'm thinking about getting the Print-on-Demand version of that massive tome. So, I've been thinking about having the discounted Print-on-Demand option for WoD: Ghost Hunters available to me just in case I want to fill my bookshelf.

So, as always seems to happen, I'm going to change my pledge in this final week to ensure I've got that option covered. On my PC, the button I'm looking for is this one:

And that brings up my current Pledge Tier reward choice and allows me to investigate my options.

So, it's time to CHANGE MY PLEDGE. On my PC, I select the Change Your Pledge button, while in the mobile app you select the ellipses (...) in the top corner to present options.

I can scroll down or read the kickstarter rewards page to review the list of rewards with my Tier. Since I've decided to ensure I have the discounted Print-on-Demand option included, the Poltergeist tier seems to be the one I want!

Once I've selected this reward, it displays the Total Pledge Amount before confirming.

So, my Total includes my Pledge Amount for my reward tier (the minimum is $25 that covers the Poltergeist reward tier) plus shipping if required (no shipping in this case, as it's just the PDF, and the option to order a discounted PoD copy from DriveThruRPG in the future ).

Before I hit confirm, though, I know that there's one more change I want to make. While I mentioned that I have the M20 PDF, all this ghostly talk has got me interested in Wraith: The Oblivion 20th Anniversary, as well as the mortal-focused supplements for WoD20A found in the "World of Mortals" PDF Bundle.

Looking at the Add On list (which I'll cover more below), I see that I can add on the Wraith: The Oblivion 20th Anniversary PDF for +$20 and the "World of Mortals" PDF Bundle for +$20. So, for another +$40, I can add both of those options to my reward list, which would bring my pledge total up to $65.

So, I've selected the Reward Tier that works best for me - POLTERGEIST - which includes

•  World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters PDF
• Discounted Print-on-Demand options for WoD: Ghost Hunters
• Access to the Manuscript Previews
• Full Access to the Pledge Manager
• And listed as a backer under the "Piercers of the Veil" heading

And then I adjust my total pledge amount to include additional funding to cover my Add On options:

• Wraith: The Oblivion 20th Anniversary PDF +$20
• "World of Mortals" PDF Bundle +$20

And, this time I'm not pledging for any physical rewards, so my shipping costs are $0. As noted, shipping outside the US has gotten quite expensive, and kickstarter will automatically add on shipping costs at this point.

My total Pledge Amount is $65. Note that this is in US dollars (you can see it's about $86 Canadian, but the final exchange rate will depend on when the payment is processed once we conclude the campaign).

When I've got everything accounted for, I hit continue for one last review.

If it looks good, I click Confirm (or Updated Pledge or Continue, depending on your browser and interface). I'm changing from my initial $20 GHOST pledge to my final POLTERGEIST pledge, plus another +$40 for the W20 PDF and the World of Mortals PDF Bundle (which includes Hunters Hunted II PDF, V20 Ghouls & Revenants PDF, and W20 Kinfolk PDF)

Wow. That was quite a journey! Thanks for coming along with me!

It's important to note that there is NO PLACE in your kickstarter reward tier pledge to indicate which add-ons you wish to include, or give any reason why you are adjusting your pledge to a new amount. You aren't adding items to a shopping cart in this scenario - instead, you're adding pledge dollars that you will assign once the campaign ends. With this in mind, you may want to make a note of which add-on items and the associated add-on dollar amounts you've included if you're forgetful like I am.

Kickstarter is testing a new Add On option in the campaigns, but unfortunately we're just a little bit ahead of their schedule. Hopefully they'll have it all sorted soon!

About a month after the campaign has ended and Kickstarter has processed your payment, I will send out a survey via BackerKit - a complex system of tools used to manage the back-end of the kickstarter fulfillment process. When you receive the survey, you will confirm your Backer Reward Tier and assign your pledged dollars to any add-on items that you wish to include. I'll repeat and expand on this information in an upcoming post about "What Happens Next?" in Saturday's update.

DIGITAL REWARDS

In addition to the rewards listed in each Reward Tier, backers can increase their overall pledge to add on the following additional rewards. Simply increase your total pledge amount by the value indicated – we will confirm which add on rewards you’ve chosen via BackerKit surveys after the campaign has run (we'll talk about that more on Saturday, before the campaign ends).

Since World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters utilizes the 20th Anniversary rules, one  of the following rulebooks is required to make full use of this supplement:

• Vampire: The Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition
• Werewolf: The Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Edition
• Mage: The Ascension 20th Anniversary Edition
• Changeling: The Dreaming 20th Anniversary Edition
• Wraith: The Oblivion 20th Anniversary Edition

Of course, all of these books are available as Add On options as part of this campaign.

As I mentioned, I'll be adding Wraith: The Oblivion 20A to my order, along with this PDF Bundle...

 PHYSICAL REWARDS 

All physical items that will require shipping (additional books, Storyguide screens) can only be added to reward tiers that already include a hardcover copy of World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters (Reward Tiers of $55+). Your rewards will be sent in a single shipment when the book becomes available. (We've tried to figure out a way to ship existing Add Ons early, but it's a little too complicated for Onyx Path's simplified fulfillment routine currently)

This is the Ghost Hunters reference screen that we added to the project list as a Stretch Goal! You can add it to your rewards list for +$20.

LIMITED QUANTITY ADD ON REWARDS

Onyx Path has limited stock on deluxe editions from previous campaigns, and are making them available to Add On to any reward tier that includes a hardcover version of World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters (and has already accounted for shipping). Your rewards will be sent in a single shipment when the book becomes available. At this time, we believe we have enough stock on these items to cover any Add On rewards, but should we somehow exceed our supply, we will refund backers the full Add On amount if we are unable to fulfill their request.

Read the descriptions carefully, as these options include multiple components - deluxe hardcovers, PDFs, dice, screens - in varying combinations depending on stock levels.

And, one more time - remember to check the Pledge Reward Tier to see if your desired rewards are covered first before moving to Add Ons. Additional copies of WoD: Ghost Hunters are already included in the SPIRIT multiple copy tier!

REWARD DELIVERY

About a month after the campaign has ended, I'll launch our post-campaign Pledge Manager to collect information from all backers and confirm which rewards you'll be receiving. At this point, you'll also confirm which Add On Rewards you've paid for. Once we have that information, I'll be able to deliver any rewards that are currently available - like the PDF versions of V20, W20, M20, CTD20, and WTO20, as well as the titles in the "World of Mortals" PDF bundle Add On options -  by sending special redemption links to claim your digital rewards from our partners at DriveThruRPG.com. Clicking these redemption links will allow you to add these PDF titles to your digital library to download anytime.

So, while it will take some time for World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters to move from it's manuscript form to a final product, you won't be waiting a year for PDFs that already exist. (You'll be waiting about 6 weeks or so, just enough time for us to set up the reward infrastructure.)

Physical Books

It's going to take some time to create the PDF for World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters and even longer for the eventual print run. When the book is at the printer, I will be in touch with all kickstarter backers and go over lockdown procedures and confirming addresses one final time. But that's a long time away, and we'll cover all of that as we get closer to that part of the process.

Don't fret if you had forgotten to increase your pledge amount to cover an Add On by the end of the campaign. These Add Ons will be available to select in our post-campaign Pledge Manager for those who participated in our campaign and have full access to the Pledge Manager. So, if you are undecided at this time, you will be able to hold off until we're closer to the final reward shipment goes out.

Add Ons AFTER Reward Tiers

Again, your first step should always be choosing the proper reward tier. Please review your reward pledge tier first and then proceed to add on top of that.

It probably goes without saying that all funds are expressed in US Dollars, although Kickstarter displays the approximate conversion rate.

It Adds Up!

That should explain the process of Selecting your Reward Tier and increasing your TOTAL PLEDGE AMOUNT to account for any additional rewards you wish to receive. Since increasing your pledge amount increases the overall funding level of the project, add-ons can help us achieve our funding target, so it benefits us all to suggest that you double-check to make sure you're getting all of the rewards you want.

Additionally, this may go without saying, please review your personal budget and ensure you've selected the appropriate reward tier and add ons for your current financial situation. Kickstarter will begin charging your payment method once the campaign ends, so ensure you've budgeted correctly.

Conclusion

As we move through these final days of the campaign, please ensure you've chosen the correct Reward Tier for the rewards you want. And beyond that - please make sure you've adjusted your TOTAL PLEDGE AMOUNT to include the additional funds that will cover any add-ons you wish to receive.

On Saturday, just before the campaign ends, I will send an update detailing the steps that occur after the campaign concludes, including how and when to confirm your add-on rewards.

We're officially in the FINAL WEEK of the kickstarter campaign. Over this final week I'll be sharing a bunch of instruction and review-type posts about Reward Tiers & Add-Ons, and What Comes Next, so if you've got any process questions or are wondering about how the kickstarter steps work, I'm hoping to clarify any remaining questions before we finish. Of course, if you're still wondering about something, please ask and I'll help as best I can.

I'll also have the final manuscript preview posted on October 28th, which will make the ENTIRE current manuscript available for review before this project finishes! Also, I'm really hoping we can maybe hit a few more Stretch Goals before we review our accomplishments on October 30. A couple of really solid days will get us there, and the final days always bring excitement!

The true impetus behind this post, though, is our big push during this final week! Together, we've done the hard work of this campaign - we've come together to fund the development and production of this book - so now it's time to make sure that we're not missing any potential backers.

Be an Ambassador

I know, this is something I've already said many times (and seem to say during every project!), but for this final week, you are officially a duly-deputized ambassador for this Kickstarter project. It's time to find strive for apotheosis, or die trying! Ok, maybe not that severe, but let's give it all we've got!

I know I end every update post with "Keep spreading the word! Invite others to join in!" - but what does that mean, and how do you do it?

Easy answer - don't stop talking about WoD: Ghost Hunters until 2:01 PM EDT next Saturday October 31st (when the campaign has ended and you're putting your costumes on). Yes, family and friends are tired of me talking about it on our weekly Zoom check-in or grocery drop-off, but we'll have a whole new set of topics to discuss in just one week, and they've learned to tolerate me during a kickstarter campaign (for now). But here's the thing - there are others around who haven't heard or don't know about the campaign.

BACKER REWARD TIERS

Like it says right at the top of the campaign page, we've come together to help create a fully developed PDF and traditionally printed game book featuring paranormal investigations and digging into the shadows of the World of Darkness with Ghost Hunters, a new rules supplement for the World of Darkness 20th Anniversary line. To borrow an analogy that I've used in past Kickstarter campaigns, this works similar to the "Viewers Like You" support campaign from your local Public Broadcasting Station (for those who get American television channels or watched Sesame Street in the pre-HBO era): There are various levels of support that you can pledge to, and these come with various levels of rewards offered as a thank you. Like getting a tote bag or t-shirt when you give money to public broadcasting to fund them doing their thing, you can get rewards for helping Onyx Path work on this project.

Let's review the Backer Reward Tiers to ensure that you've pledged to a Reward Tier that provides all the rewards you wish to receive.

Exploring Your Options: Digital Only or Hardcover + PDF

The main reward offered in this campaign is, of course, the main goal of the entire proposition: the World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters rulebook. The first decision you need to make in figuring out your reward tier is whether you want to receive a digital PDF version or if you want the hardcover book.

PDF ONLY REWARD TIERS:

• GHOST
• POLTERGEIST

These are PDF-only reward tiers. So, if you're saving trees or saving shelf space - or avoiding the shipping charges that seem to be ever-increasing - these are the reward tier options that you should begin with. The PDF will be fulfilled by our partners at DriveThruRPG.com - when it is ready, you will receive a link to add it to your DTRPG library and be able to download at your leisure.

HARDCOVER+PDF REWARD TIERS:

• CORPUS
• DOOMSHADE
• SPIRIT
• SPECTRE
• DOOMSLAYER

These reward tiers include the traditionally-printed hardcover version of this book. That means the books are produced in a larger offset print run at one time, and will have the best production values, from color clarity and appearance to binding and materials. In addition, these options also include the PDF version, so you will get a digital copy as described above.

And, yeah, there's also the HAUNT Retail Tier if you're a pre-approved retail backer!

The only Reward Tier that does not include the PDF version of the book is the RESTLESS tier. You should select this Reward Tier if you want to support the project and maybe participate in the Pledge Manager but do not currently wish to receive either a PDF or hardcover version of the final book.

PLEDGE MANAGER ACCESS - After the campaign is over we'll launch BackerKit, our post-campaign pledge manager, and invite the backers to set up their rewards via survey. This allows you to confirm your pledge and add on anything that you might have missed, as well as possibly increasing your pledged reward tier, should you choose to expand your reward selection. This option will give international backers additional time to investigate shipping options, should they choose, knowing they can confirm a physical reward at a later date. Funding collected in BackerKit after the campaign does not count toward any campaign Stretch Goals, however.

You'll note that the third columns - Access to the Manuscript Previews - is included in ALL reward tiers. That's just one of the perks of participating in this kickstarter campaign!

MANUSCRIPT PREVIEWS – All Reward Tiers include access to Backers-Only manuscript previews. With the exception of the final chapter and appendix (which will be posted on Wednesday), I have posted the entire manuscript across multiple sections. You must be a kickstarter backer to access these previews, as the link will remain in a backers-only update post. The manuscript previews may not be available to those who pre-order the book at a later date.

OPTIONAL "AT COST" PoD VERSION –  For World of Darkness: Ghost Hunters, backers who pledge to the POLTERGEIST tier and higher will have the option of using DriveThruRPG.com’s Print-On-Demand service to purchase a physical, digitally printed copy directly from their PoD partners at as close as we can get to the cost of printing and shipping (this cost is not included in your pledge, and you do not need to increase the cost of your pledge to use this option). When the PoD versions are available to order (which may be some time after the book has gone to print), you will receive links to purchase these versions of the book from DriveThruRPG.com at a specially adjusted cost. You DO NOT need to take advantage of this PoD offer as it does not affect in any way your pledge rewards.

WORLD OF DARKNESS: GHOST HUNTERS PDF VERSION - The digital version of Ghost Hunters, fulfilled by our partners at DriveThruRPG.com. Kickstarter backers will receive a redemption link for an early version, before it goes on sale to the public. This initial "Backer Version" will be used to get feedback from the fans to make the final version the best that it can be. When it has been updated to the final version, it will be automatically added to your DriveThruRPG library and available for download at your convenience.

WORLD OF DARKNESS: GHOST HUNTERS DELUXE HARDCOVER VERSION - The main goal of this campaign is to fund the creation, production, and print run of a beautiful deluxe edition of the game. Note that all Reward Tiers that include the Hardcover version also include the PDF version as a bonus. Additional shipping charges are automatically added to your pledge by Kickstarter, based on your delivery location.

Choosing Your Reward Tier

There has been some churn over this past week - a few Reward Tier adjustments and changes by backers, as budgets changed and people have seen the game in play. In these final days it's best to ensure that you've selected the Reward Tier that offers you the options and rewards you want to receive and are ready to lock down. This timing - before the campaign ends - is the absolute most affordable and inclusive these rewards will be, and will save headaches and heartbreaks if fully considered now.

WAIT! What about special reward tiers?!

Right! In addition to our "core" Reward Tiers, we've got another area for consideration. These are the Premium Rewards.

Multiple Copies

If you are backing for yourself and a friend (or just want a second copy for your collection), the SPIRIT Tier was designed for you, with two copies of all rewards included in your pledge. As noted on the main page of our campaign, shipping outside the US has gotten quite expensive. Splitting the shipping cost across multiple copies in a single shipment is one way to bring the cost per book down, if you're able to coordinate your backing and delivery with friends.

And, if you are a retailer interested in making this available in your store, a special retailer tier, the HAUNT pledge tier is open to you upon prior approval from Onyx Path (please email [email protected] prior to selecting this reward to confirm your status).

Premium Reward Tiers

These special reward tiers offer some enhanced interaction with the setting, from submitting a name that will be used for a NPC  worked into the setting, getting an insert signed by as many of the creative team as we can manage, or the opportunity to submit reference photos and serve as an art model for an interior illustration!
